Jim’s experience has led to crossover in the stills world, being chosen to helm projects with such luminaries as Peter Lindbergh and Martin Parr. As such he has worked alongside, amongst others, Tom Hooper (Oscar winning director of The King’s Speech), Jonathan Glazier (Sexy Beast, Under The Skin), and for many years, Dougal Wilson, currently one of the most awarded commercial’s directors in the world. There is very little logistically that Jim has not covered in his many years, from car choreography, stunts, marine and underwater work, through to fashion and dramatic performance from small reactive documentary crews, to large 200 crew film units. A veteran of making over 200 music videos, Jim has been the preferred choice of U2 amongst other major names. Jim has planned, co-ordinated and delivered major campaigns around the world, ranging from Coca Cola Super Bowl adverts to many of the much-loved John Lewis TV campaigns from the last 8 years. ![]() Initially learning his trade on BBC dramas and feature films, he has primarily focused on a short format career since 2005. With huge emphasis on how he looks at and photographs locations he gets just as much pleasure from finding those tiny details that make a single shot as he does from pulling off heavy-weight logistical shoots.Īs an Assistant Director, Jim has also worked in the film industry for 20 years. Equally on the more creative end of the scale he’s completely at home searching for locations for the most obscure or conceptual visual brief and loves the immersive and multi-role aspect of working with smaller crews to achieve stunning results from every location. ![]() He has taken an 18 camera shoot with a cast and crew of over 250 into a live and fully functioning Heathrow Terminal 5 and arranged for Ferrari F1 cars to drive on the streets of Rio de Janerio, New York and Hong Kong. His photographic eye and an ability to combine creativity with immaculate planning and logistics, has taken him around the globe and to every corner of the UK looking for locations from glacial landscapes to minimalist dream homes and New York style streets.in Glasgow.
